PayPal Buttons

Festology works with your PayPal account to sell tickets, accept donations or process memberships.

If you’re selling tickets, memberships, or accepting donations via your own PayPal account, you’ll want to keep the following in mind before you set up your buttons.

PayPal

  1. Create a PayPal business account. If you haven’t set up a PayPal business account, that’s your first stop!
  2. Create a PayPal button. Create a “Buy Now” button (for tickets), a “Subscribe” button (for memberships) or a “Donate” button (for donations). In order for your button to work in Festology, you will need to make a button for each type of ticket or donation. Don’t use the “Add a dropdown” section under “Customize Button.” If you do, you won’t be able to use this button with Festology. Go back and edit your button before continuing.
  3. Get the embed code from PayPal. After you click “Create Button”, you’ll get a page with button code. The default tab of “Website” is not what you need. Click on the “Email” tab and copy the link. If you don’t see an “Email” tab, you probably added options that will not work with Festology.
  4. Get a button image from PayPal. PayPal allows you to link directly to their button images.  You can grab the url of an image from PayPal, from a third-party resource like http://www.rocketgranny.com/codeclips/pp_button_images.php, or from the list below. Make sure you are just copying the image url, not any html code.

At this point, you should have a url for a PayPal page that can accept payments, and a url for a button image.

  1. Create a link to sell tickets in Festology. If you’re selling tickets for an event, paste the link as the “Ticket Link” (under the “Tickets” tab) for that event. Save the event.
  2. Create a link for donations or memberships in Festology. If you’re selling subscriptions or asking for donations, you’ll want to create or modify a Festology “Page”. When you get to the “Page”, go to “Content”.  Click in the textbox to position where your image will go, click the image button, paste in the image link for your PayPal button, click Insert.  Now click on the image you just inserted, then click the link button and paste in the PayPal link. Click Insert. Save the page.

This process has a lot in common with the process for adding PayPal buttons to WordPress.  You can have a look at their tutorial and video here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
